Release Time
Bible Classes
2001/2002

For Grades: 6, 7, 8, & 9
When do classes begin?

The teen years are busy! Every parent of a teen knows how many activities and distractions are competing for attention! It becomes increasingly difficult to meet all the needs of young people, especially the spiritual needs. That's why Faith Community Church and Christ the King Lutheran Church are working together to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the State of Minnesota to offer classes in religious instruction during the school day. Each week, on Wednesday, students are allowed to leave the school grounds to attend these classes. Faith Community Church is conveniently located only three blocks from Central School, and therefore we can make maximum use of the time available without needing to provide transportation by meeting there. Students involved in the Release Time program are dismissed by their teachers from a physical education class, and make the short walk to class at the church. These classes are offered free of charge, but a donation of $5.00 per student is requested to cover the cost of materials. It is necessary to inform the school system regarding who will be attending, so your prompt response is essential.

All classes are available to any young people, regardless of their church affiliation. Parents will receive a "Report Card" at the end of each semester with student attendance, participation and test evaluations. The classes will be taught in a friendly, non-threatening atmosphere, but completion of assignments will be regarded as necessary and cooperation will be expected. Repeated misbehavior, or repeated failure to complete assignments will be grounds for dismissal from the program.
